SEPTA Removes COVID Vehicle Capacity Restrictions
EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2021
As COVID-19 cases across the region drop, more people get vaccinated, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the City of Philadelphia ease indoor capacity related restrictions, effective TUESDAY, JUNE 1, 2021 the PANDEMIC RELATED LIMITS on the number of customers allowed on ALL SEPTA VEHICLES will be REMOVED.
THE TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION (TSA) MANDATE AND CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL (CDC) REQUIREMENTS CONCERNING WEARING A MASK/FACE COVERING ON SEPTA VEHICLES AND IN STATIONS REMAIN IN EFFECT.
This decision is part of our on-going efforts to support the region's recovery as businesses and government agencies announce return to office plans for employees, students resume in person classes, and capacity limits are eased for stores and restaurants. With the health and safety of our customers and employees a top priority, we continue to take the following actions:
SEPTA vehicles are well ventilated - air changes occur on every vehicle every TWO TO THREE MINUTES, adhering to CDC recommendations. This far exceeds recommendations for indoor places like restaurants, where health officials say outside air should circulate once an hour
SEPTA is upgrading to high-efficiency cabin air filters on vehicles. Filters are changed on a regular basis in accordance with vehicle system testing and reliability recommendations.
SEPTA cleans vehicles daily. Additionally, vehicles receive an intense detailed heavy cleaning every 10 days.
SEPTA follows TSA and CDC mandates and guidelines that require customers to wear a mask or face covering when traveling on public transportation and continues to educate riders about proper mask wearing through events, posters, and signage
SEPTA recently launched a new tool that offers customers Seat Availability information for buses. This trip planning resource also provides a snapshot of the number of seats and riders on a given vehicle. In the coming months this feature will be expanded to cover all modes of service including the Market Frankford, Broad Street and Norristown Lines, Regional Rail and Trolleys.
In addition to wearing a mask, we continue to urge riders to practice safe hygiene to stop the spread of germs. This includes:
Washing hands frequently and thoroughly - before and after riding
Using hand sanitizer and limit touching surfaces
Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth
Covering mouth when you cough or sneeze
Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
Refraining from entering SEPTA's stations or riding our vehicles if you have a cough, fever or do not feel well
ESPERANZA COMMUNITY VACCINATION CLINIC
GETTING TO THE ESPERANZA COMMUNITY VACCINATION CLINIC The Esperanza Community Vaccination Clinic at the Esperanza Academy Charter School is located at 4261 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 in the Hunting Park neighborhood in North Philadelphia. There are many ways to travel to the site for a vaccination and transportation assistance is available.
SEPTA TRAVEL OPTIONS
BUS AND SUBWAY TO ESPERANZA – The Esperanza Community Vaccination Clinic is accessible by public transit and is serviced by Bus Routes 47 and 53 bus and the Broad Street Line. Hunting Park is the closest Broad Street Line stop and Allegheny is the closest ADA accessible stop to the site. This map highlights all bus and subway routes to the clinic.
FREE EXPRESS SHUTTLE FROM ALLEGHENY BROAD STREET LINE – SEPTA will operate an express shuttle bus run between Allegheny station and the vaccination clinic for anyone using the Broad Street Line to travel to their vaccination appointment. The shuttle will begin 30 minutes before the clinic opens, and will pick up on the south side of Allegheny Ave between Broad Street and 13th Street, near the elevators. See shuttle hours listed below
SENIORS RIDE SEPTA FOR FREE – Seniors 65 years of age and older ride SEPTA FREE on all buses, trackless trolleys, Broad Street and Market Frankford Lnes, and Regional Rail. Individuals under age 65 with a qualifying disability can always ride at half-fare. Eligibility criteria and application information can be found here.
SEPTA CCT FOR DOOR-TO-DOOR SERVICE
SEPTA has expanded CUSTOMIZED COMMUNITY TRANSPORTATION (CCT) for vaccinations. This service is free-of-charge for those who are 65 years of age or older, have a disability or access and functional need, or those who identify ride accommodation needs.
SEPTA CCT provides door-to-door service from individuals' homes, to the vaccination site, and back home after their vaccination.
SEPTA CCT rides can be scheduled for any government run sites, including Esperanza Community Vaccination Clinic, the Center City Vaccination Clinic, and all of the community vaccine clinics.
Rides can be scheduled by dialing 3-1-1 and selecting Option 5 between 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Rides must be requested at least 72 hours in advance.

FEMA VACCINATION SITE AT THE PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 2021
The City of Philadelphia/FEMA Vaccination Center at the PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER will open to individuals with PRE-SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS beginning at 8:00 A.M. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3. This Philly Vax center will be open 7 DAYS A WEEK from 8:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M. and is schedule to remain open until mid-April.

EXPANDED SEPTA CCT SERVICE FOR FEMA RUN VACCINATION SITES
SEPTA CCT has expanded their services for seniors, those who have access and functional needs, or anyone who needs a ride accommodation. This service is free of charge. INDIVIDUALS CAN REQUEST A RIDE TO THEIR VACCINATION APPOINTMENT BY CALLING 3-1-1 AND SELECTING OPTION 5 BETWEEN 8 A.M. AND 8 P.M. MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. Requests should be made 72 HOURS before the date of the appointment. SEPTA CCT provides door-to-door service from individuals’ homes, to the vaccination site, and then will return home after their appointment.
REGIONAL RAIL – JEFFERSON STATION
The 12th & Filbert doors will be open from 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. 7 days a week while the vaccination program is in operation. The ONLY other doors open at the Station (due to COVID-19) restrictions is 10th & Filbert, which is open 7 days a week during the service day. ALL OTHER ENTRANCES TO THE STATION REMAIN CLOSED.
MARKET FRANKFORD LINE 11TH ST STATION
11th Street is the closest Market Frankford Line Station to the Convention Center Riders should use the 12th & Filbert Street doors in Jefferson Station to exit to the street (see hours above). The doors in the Reading Headhouse leading to Market St are CLOSED
MARKET FRANKFORD LINE 13TH ST STATION
Market Frankford Line riders will exit to the street at 13th & Market. Walk one block east to 12th St, turn left and walk 1 block north to the 12th & Arch entrance of the PA Convention Center
Individuals with scheduled appointments are being directed to enter the Convention Center at 12th & Arch. Use the 12t & Filbert Street doors to exit to the street (elevator access is available from the station to the street) and walk one block north on 12th Street, past Reading Terminal to get to the Convention Center.

CUSTOMERS REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS ON SEPTA SERVICES
In accordance with the new federal mandate, TSA and SEPTA require proper wearing of face masks, at all times, when on public transit. Failure to comply could result in denial of boarding or removal and may result in federal penalties.
This mandate is part of an on-going effort by local, state, and federal authorities to reduce the spread of the coronavirus when riding on a SEPTA vehicle or waiting at a SEPTA station, in a SEPTA facility, or on a SEPTA platform.
Social distancing should continue to be practiced when waiting to board a vehicle, in a SEPTA Station, and when traveling on a SEPTA route.
Vehicle capacity limits will continue. Please respect seat barrier decals on bus, trolley, and high speed vehicles.
